The North West is home to an abundance of activites, attractions, historic towns and magnificent countryside. Whatever your interests there is something for everyone! The North West is the best place for walking as there are hundreds of miles of walking routes across the stunning Lake District.
The Lake District
The Lake District is one of most beautiful regions of the UK and is England’s largest National Park. You can find both England’s highest mountain – Scafell Park and England’s deepest lake – Wastwater. Visitors can walk across this stunning environment at their own pace. However if you’re looking for more of a relaxing holiday, the Lake District is home to over twenty micro breweries, fantastic award winning pubs and four Michelin star restaurants!
Cycling
One of the best ways to explore The Lake District is by cycling. There are miles and miles of cycle routes for all abilities from challenging off road mountain biking routes to virtually traffic-free country lanes.
Top routes to follow for mountain biking include: Whinlatter Forrest and Grizedale Forrest. These routes are suitable for both beginners and experienced cyclists. You don’t need to worry about bringing your own bike as you can hire your own bike at Coniston Boating Centre, which also has electric bikes and trailers available to rent.

Walking
Another great way to discover all the natural beauty the North West has to offer is by walking. Like with cycling there are hundreds of miles of walking routes suitable for all ages and abilities. There are long, challenging walks along with shorter walks that are perfect for discovering the North West at your own pace.
