Why should you visit Liverpool? The vibrant and bustling city of Liverpool is located in Merseyside and is one of the largest cities in England. Ranked as one of the most visited cities in the UK, Liverpool is renowned for its thriving nightlife, cosmopolitan atmosphere and world-famous waterfront.

Liverpool boasts more museums and galleries than any other UK city outside of London, meaning that it is an absolute haven for those who love to learn about history and culture.  There are 7 national museums in the city, including the Museum of Liverpool, which is the world’s first national museum devoted to the history of a regional city.

Art lovers will enjoy a trip to the Lady Lever Art Gallery which houses a large collection of Pre-Raphaelite paintings, fine and decorative art, and ornate English furniture.

Liverpool is probably most famous for being the home of The Beatles, the English rock band.  Fans of the group will want to pay a visit to The Beatles Story, which is a museum dedicated to all things The Beatles.  The Beatles Story is the world’s largest permanent exhibition devoted to telling the story of The Beatles’ rapid rise to fame.  There is a Magical Mystery Tour that leaves from the Albert Dock and takes fans to the famous sites of Strawberry Field and Penny Lane.

Whilst visiting Liverpool, it is worth walking around Albert Dock, which is one of the UK’s finest heritage attractions, consisting of museums, bars and restaurants.

Visit Britain’s largest cathedral, with a trip to the beautiful Liverpool Cathedral. The Cathedral boasts impressive architecture, as well as fine and contemporary art.

If you are visiting Liverpool with the family, take a boat ride on Mersey Ferries or visit the World Museum and explore their child friendly galleries and exhibitions. Alternatively, take a trip outside of the city to Knowsley Safari Park or Chester Zoo.

For those looking to explore the city on foot, you will be pleased to know there are lots of parks in Liverpool. The city has an abundance of green spaces, including Sefton Park Palmhouse which is one of the city’s most popular parks.
