There’s a wealth of things to do in Lancashire. Home to Blackpool, Britain’s most popular seaside resort, Lancashire is a combination of seaside towns, rural villages, moorlands and beautiful countryside. Whether you are planning on visiting the magnificent Forest of Bowland or hoping to ride some of Blackpool’s infamous rollercoaster rides, there is something for everyone.

Theme Parks & Attractions

Packed full of theme parks, attractions and of course the beach, Blackpool is a popular destination for families and groups of friends. Pleasure Beach Resort is Blackpool’s largest attraction with over 125 rides including the Big One and Valhalla. The iconic theme park is said to be one of the most visited tourist attractions in the UK, with its white-knuckle rides, Nickelodeon Land and various play areas for young children.

Sandcastle Waterpark is an indoor waterpark in an 84-degree tropical climate located at South Beach in Blackpool. The waterpark is home to more than 18 fantastic slides and attractions. Sandcastle Waterpark is a great day out for families and groups and is open all year round.

Cycle trails in Lancashire 

With so many lanes and trails, cycling in Lancashire is perfect for everyone even if you’re not an experienced rider. If you’re up for an adventure why not explore the Moors on two wheels and cycle through picture postcard villages, moorlands and waterways.

For the more experienced cyclists, the east of Lancashire offers challenging cycle trails, which take you through the Bowland and Pennine Hills.

Museums and Galleries

With a history steeped in the textile industry, and one of Europe’s largest Tiffany Glass collections at Accrington’s Haworth Gallery there is a lot to see in the county.

The Helmshore Mills Textile Museum explores the history of Lancashire’s unique role in the industrial revolution. As well as the textile industry, Lancashire has many exhibitions and galleries showcasing fine art and historic costumes.

The Astley Hall Museum and Art Gallery is a wonderful place for history buffs and art lovers. The museum and art gallery is housed within a Grade I listed historic house, which is surrounded by enchanting woodland, a lake and a renovated Victorian garden.

For those interested in drama and the arts, the Royal Bacup Theatre, puts on numerous shows throughout the year, from drama, musical productions and pantomime.

Parks and Gardens

Situated in Lancashire’s breath-taking countryside, visitors can explore an abundance of gardens and parks, surrounded by historic landmarks and stately homes.

To catch a glimpse of Lancashire’s natural and rare wildlife head to the Forest of Bowland which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We also recommend visiting Williamson Park in Lancaster, which is home to the Ashton Memorial and 54 acres of extensive parkland with beautiful woodland walks, play areas and amazing views of Morecambe Bay, Lake District fells and Fylde Coast.
