Walking In Bournemouth

If you are after an activity that is suitable for the whole family but full of inspiration, then walking in and around Bournemouth is ideal. And the best thing is that it doesn’t cost a thing!

Situated between the bustling town centre and award winning beach, there’s always a reason to visit Bournemouth’s beautiful Grade II listed Victorian Gardens. From sunbathing and summer picnics to refreshing winter walks, the lower, central and upper gardens offer an abundance of calm and colourful wildlife to stroll through whatever the weather.

Why not head to the tropical gardens at Alum Chine, originating back to the 1920’s, the gardens are a tropical retreat, home to a haven of unusual plants.

A few popular trails to truly enjoy walking in Bournemouth include:

South Purbeck:
The south west coast path links with a network of footpaths to explore the amazing landscapes and sea cliffs. Dancing ledge is a popular attraction with walkers. The 6 mile walk starts at Spyway car park and takes in beautiful sea views alongside grasslands rich with wildlife. There are opportunities for refreshments at tea rooms and pubs along the way.

Corfe Castle:
Take in the sights of this magnificent castle and its surroundings that create a wonderful backdrop to any walk. Find the perfect picture spot from the nearby Purbeck hills, Corfe Common or Hartland Moor.

Kingston Lacy:
Enjoy the famous snowdrop display at Kingston Lacy on a walk that will take you around the grounds. The walk is easy to moderate and approximately 2 miles along gravel pathways and avenues. This is a great way to embrace the spirit of spring.
