Holidaymakers choose to visit the southern county of Hampshire as it is made up of bustling cities, coastlines and beautiful countryside. Home to two national parks, the county is a perfect destination for a weekend away or seaside escape. Whether you are interested in country pursuits or you’re partial to a bit of retail therapy, Hampshire has some fantastic cities that combine city, coast and country. The county is also recognised for its great selection of local produce, luxury Michelin star restaurants and cosy pubs with rooms.

Winchester

The beautiful and medieval city of Winchester is rich in history and has various monumental buildings to explore and visit. Winchester Cathedral, Winchester College and The Great Hall are just a few of the attractions peppered around the city. There are also a growing number of celebrity chef restaurants located in Winchester and it is fast becoming the foodie capital of the south of England.

Southampton

The city of Southampton is home to two universities and is the cruise capital of Europe. Southampton is a great weekend away for those looking for a city break. The city has an abundance of well known shops at the huge West Quay Shopping Centre and some fabulous bars and restaurants on Oxford Street and by the Marina.

Portsmouth

The historic city of Portsmouth is a great combination of coast, heritage and shopping. With top attractions such as the Emirates Spinnaker Tower, The Mary Rose and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, there is plenty to see. If you are looking for a bit of retail therapy, you can find top fashion names at the designer outlets of Gunwharf Quays.
