Cycling is without doubt one of the best ways to experience and enjoy the wide open spaces, dramatic scenery and clean fresh air found within the region, while giving you greater freedom and time to explore at your own pace.

If you are looking for a challenging day out cycling, then there are plenty of long distant routes to choose from. The 17 mile West Loch Lomond Cycle Path takes you from Balloch on the south shore of Loch Lomond to cutting through the heart of the National Park, passing through Aberfoyle and Callander. For off-road enthusiasts the 18 mile Loch Eck Loop offers superb forest roads and if you’re lucky, you might spot an osprey.

Get a taste for the great outdoors at Loch Ard Forest in the Trossachs. Despite the dramatic countryside, it’s actually a relaxing ride and an excellent option for families with young children. The cycle track at Loch Katrine offering glorious scenic views – pedal and electric bikes can be hired from the on-site company, Katrinewheelz. If you’re looking for a bit more adventure visit Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, which has Britain’s largest network of off-road cycle tracks.
