There are many different things to do in Lincolnshire, making for a wonderful trip away.

Heritage

Lincolnshire is rich in history and heritage from Iron Age remains, Roman gates and Medieval halls to Gothic churches, Elizabethan homes and Georgian country estates.

There are plenty of museums and galleries that captivate the spirit, stories and history of Lincolnshire. Museums in Lincolnshire include the The Collection, Museum of Lincolnshire Life in Lincoln and Boston Guildhall. As well as many museums, Lincolnshire is home to stately homes Doddington Hall and Belton House.

Lincolnshire is known for its farming and you can visit some of its impressive working mills such as Ellis Mill, Alford Five Sailed Windmill or Mount Pleasant Windmill.

Aviation

For those visiting who are interested in aviation Lincolnshire is the place to go as it has a Visitors Centre to the Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and its Visitors Centre to the Red Arrows, the RAF’s display team. You can even see and ride in an original Lancaster bomber.

Farming

Visitors wanting to learn more about Lincolnshire’s farming heritage and rural past should visit Normanby Hall museum. It gives visitors the opportunity to see re-creations of workshops, a blacksmiths and allows you to discover how people lived back then. There are also displays of agricultural machinery and other tools used during Lincolnshire’s farming past.

The North Ings Farm Museum collection includes tractors, oil engines, vintage machinery, a fairground organ and narrow gauge railway.

Activities

Lincolnshire has so much to offer when it comes to activities and adrenaline sports. With so much magnificent space, activities such as walking, cycling, horse riding, golf, fishing and adventure sports are available to try.

Lincolnshire is home to the Fenlands, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You will discover so much about the region whether you cycle, walk or horse ride. Lincolnshire also has a stunning coastline that is accessible for all.

Cycling

With many trails to choose from Lincolnshire is the perfect place to get on two wheels! There are routes for all levels of ability and families. Enjoy the natural landscapes of the Lincolnshire Wolds, the Vales or the coastal tracks at your own pace.

There are plenty of village pubs to stop off and have a break along your route. If you are really feeling like a challenge, cycle the long distance Hull-to-Harwich National Cycle Route. For families and those who want a more leisurely ride, the Lincolnshire Wolds Cycle Routes offers six trails suitable for all ages and abilities.

Horse Riding & Racing

Lincolnshire is the perfect country for horse riding. It’s has plenty of country lanes, bridleways and horse riding trails to give visitors a grand experience when exploring the county. You can also trek on horse through the Lincolnshire Wolds and discover the wonderful countryside.

Lincolnshire can also claim one of the England’s most picturesque horse riding racetracks. Set in its rural surroundings on the edge of the Wolds, Market Rasen Racecourse offers a friendly family atmosphere, quality racing and amazing views unmatched any where in the country.

Boating & Sailing

Explore Lincolnshire’s magnificent coastline and canals on a boat. Flowing for 36 miles the River Witham has plenty of attractions, including Fiskerton Fen, with its Nature Reserve, and Kirkstead Bridge, offering access to Woodhall Spa, an Edwardian spa town.

The Fossdyke Navigation, built by the Romans and thought to be Britain’s oldest canal, flows for 11 miles from the River Trent. Follow the Fossdyke and you will arrive in the Cathedral city of Lincoln and see the interesting and charming Brayford Waterfront. The south of the Fens offers some incredible scenery and wildlife.
