Heritage to Visit in Cheshire

Chester and Cheshire has a variety of museums to visit, highlighting the regions connection with the textile industry. There’s also displays of Chester’s Roman past and a collection of vintage machinery at the Anson Engine Museum, or Macclesfield Silk Museum tells the story of the fabulous fabrics woven into this region’s past.  There are also popular walking tours around Knutsford, giving you the opportunity to discover Cranford and find out what makes the town so interesting.

Cheshire Family Attractions

As one of the most popular UK family attractions with over 35,000 animals and 125 acres of zoological gardens to explore, Cheshire Zoo is well worth a visit. Become transported to some of the most remote corners of the world, visiting endangered orangutans from the rainforests of South East Asia, to the bouncing ring-tailed lemurs of Madagascar. The Crocky Trail in Cheshire is a fabulous day out with children. Get the whole family outdoors and enjoy a mile long adventure of pure adrenaline drenched fun along the famous Crocky Trail.

Cheshire Cycling Routes

Cheshire has an abundance of cycle routes that offer one of the best ways to see the region. The 176-mile Cheshire Cycleway takes you round the entire county passing many of the region’s major attractions on the way. If you’re looking for something a little less strenuous, take a trip to Northwich for Biking the Backroads, a cycle route that is away from busy roads through the village of Antrobus. Or for those real cycle enthusiasts, Delamere Forest offers a quiet and stunning haven for cyclists. There are several different trails available, from ones for the family to ones for the more experienced cyclists.

Horse Riding in Cheshire

This rural county has some fantastic bridleways for horse riders. Recommended trails include Whitegate Way from Winsford to Cuddington near Delamere Forest and the Salt Line and Merelake Way from Hassall Green to Alsager. These routes are perfect riding trails, away from the roads and traffic free. If you’re more a spectator than horse rider, Chester Racecourse provides visitors with a great opportunity to attend a large and exciting race meet, with race events taking place from May to September every year.

Walking Holidays In Cheshire

One of the best ways to explore Cheshire’s stunning countryside is by walking. Whether you want to explore the city of Chester and its colourful history or hike a trail through the Cheshire countryside, there are options aplenty for the walking enthusiast. In the rural fields of Cheshire, the Trans Pennine Trail links the North and Irish Seas, passing through several towns, villages, and cities. During the Industrial Revolution, a large canal network was built in Chester and Cheshire, with these waterways offering a great place to explore for anglers and walkers.
