Visitors to Cambridge are spoilt for choice – There are fun guided tours of the City, excellent shopping, and also punting on the River Cam. Just like visiting the university colleges, punting is a must when visiting Cambridge. It provides visitors with the best view of Cambridge’s most historical colleges, all from the comfort of your own boat. You can either hire a chauffeur, or make your way along the River Cam in a self-hired punt, enjoying one of Cambridge’s most famous past times.

Synonymous with Cambridge are it’s universities, well worth a visit through one of the many guided tours available. Cambridge is also home to King’s College Chapel, which is remembered for its stunning architecture and fan-vaulted ceiling. The shopping in Cambridge is fabulous, explore the Grand Arcade shopping centre and the many independent retailers and boutiques lining the picturesque streets.

The best way to explore the city and surrounding countryside is by cycling, with over 80 miles of cycle lanes and routes. The Cambridge Cycle Map includes cycle routes in the city and surrounding villages, as well as cycle information and useful contacts.

Cambridgeshire Museums & Galleries

Cambridge boasts the country’s highest number of internationally renowned collections outside of London. Most of the University’s eight museums are free to enter. As well as the large galleries, there is a whole host of independent galleries and exhibitions showcasing artists from the UK and abroad.

Explore The Whipple Museum of Science, University Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, or lose yourself in the art at the Ruskin Gallery, Fitzwilliam Museum or Kettle’s Yard. South of Cambridge is the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, one of the world’s most exciting aviation heritage sites with around 200 aircraft on display.
