Tigh An Truish is a multi-award-winning Scottish inn tucked beside the water on the Isle of Seil. Its setting is wonderfully distinctive: the inn stands beside the historic Clachan Bridge, popularly known as the “Bridge over the Atlantic”, with sea lochs, islands and the rugged landscapes of Scotland’s West Coast all around. Oban is approximately 11 miles away. The inn’s name means “House of Trousers”, recalling the story that islanders would change from their kilts into trousers here before crossing to the mainland. Today, the atmosphere is rather more indulgent, with just three individually named king-size bedrooms providing an intimate place to stay. Food is a major reason to visit. Menus change with the seasons, with West Coast seafood playing an important role. There are two sides to eating here. The restaurant offers a refined experience, while the traditional pub provides a relaxed setting for bar food and drinks. The original-style bar retains plenty of local character, with Scottish beers including ales from Fyne Ales featuring. In warmer weather, the beer garden overlooking the Bridge over the Atlantic is an atmospheric spot for a drink, with the tidal waters of Clachan Sound just beyond.
