Fairway Favourites: Uncovering Oakman Pubs

With summer finally on its way, there is no better time to play a round of golf.  The courses are in excellent condition and longer days mean more hours hitting balls. People who work during the day and spend time with family at the weekend struggle to play golf regularly, if at all through the winter months. However, the late evenings offer a chance for those who lead busy lives to have a few hours to themselves.

Oakman Hotels are located near some fantastic golf courses, which are ideally suited to all abilities and standards.

Situated in the Buckinghamshire village of Brill, The Pointer is close to several golf courses within the surrounding area.

Studley Wood Golf Club is just a 6-mile drive from The Pointer and offers an 18-hole golf course, set within 44 acres of scenic woodland. The course is designed to be challenging and enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels. It features a mix of tree-lined fairways, undulating terrain, strategically placed hazards, and well-manicured greens.

Further down the road, you have Oxford Golf Club and Buckingham Golf Club, both 18-hole courses. They offer parkland-style courses in picturesque settings, but with challenging layouts. Both clubs offer various facilities to enhance the golfing experience.

The Oxford Golf Club is often praised for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere, catering to both members and visitors. It provides facilities such as a clubhouse, pro shop, and practice areas.

The Fenwick in Lancashire has several local golf courses to choose from, such as Bentham Golf Club, an 18-hole course with a backdrop of The Three Peaks in the Yorkshire Dales. The Forest of Bowland and the fells of the Lake District to the west, add to the panoramic views from the course.

The Lancaster Golf Club is just over 10 miles from The Fenwick and is set in a picturesque location with scenic views of the surrounding countryside. The club welcomes visitors and guests who want to play a round of golf, but it is advisable to contact the club in advance to inquire about availability and any specific visitor policies they may have.

Nestled between Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Silverdale Golf Club has picturesque views over the surrounding countryside, across Morecambe Bay and towards the Cumbrian Howgill Fells. The 18-hole course is a par 70 (5,654 yards) and is a course of two halves, each of differing character. Much of the old part of Silverdale Golf Course stands on a limestone ridge, providing excellent drainage. The course is a 12-mile drive from The Fenwick.
