The Sunday Telegraph have released their list of Britain’s 30 cosiest pubs – roaring fires, comfy sofas, friendly landlords, delicious food and drink and cosy bedrooms. We are delighted to see some of our pubs featured on the list:

The Ebrington Arms – Chipping Campden 

The glorious gardens at Hidcote are a ramble across fields from the Ebrington Arms, lovingly restored and revived. Little has changed in the cosy 17th-century bar, beloved by locals and tourists alike. Stone floors, fresh flowers and a delightful mishmash of tables set the scene for terrific food cooked from mostly local produce.

The White Horse – Chilgrove

Beautiful Sussex downland provides a backcloth to this very English inn. Long, low and whitewashed, it dates from 1768 and was once a staging post; now it’s the perfect place for foodies and wine buffs to be fed and watered. The relaxing timbered bar and dining room combines contemporary-smart with traditional charm: blazing wood-burners, heritage hues, fat candles on scrubbed tables, rugs on upholstered benches. A secluded courtyard and spacious garden rooms blend rustic with modern design. Stunning downland rambles radiate from the front door.

Mr Hanbury’s Mason Arms – South Leigh

Lost in the lovely countryside a few miles west of Oxford is a splendid reinvention of the country pub with a uniquely cool take on all things retro. Country rugs cover flagstone floors, a fire burns on both sides of the bar, an original pine bench comes with plumped-up cushions. Choose to eat at the bar or the restaurant, with everything from venison to a warming winter pie.

The Milk House – Sissinghurst

There are sofas in front of the fire, a great range of English wines, local ales and a menu packed full of seasonal dishes. The pub is a short stroll from Sissinghurst Castle, perfect for a leisurely walk on a crisp day – return for a glass of wine by the fire, and stay in one of the chic bedrooms.
