Cosy Pubs With Rooms

As the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter, a cosy pub appeals to us all more than ever. The thought of sitting in a comfy chair by an open fire with a glass of red and some good, hearty pub grub is what the upcoming wintry days are all about. There’s simply not much better than nestling in for the evening, meeting people, telling tales, and making memories over food and a glass of something nice whilst the wind and rain blusters outside.

Whether it is a weekend away, or you are simply looking for somewhere to spend the afternoon and watch the day go by, here’s five of our favourite cosy pubs dotted around the country.

The Bell in Ticehurst, East Sussex

Situated in the quaint village and civil parish of Ticehurst, The Bell is the perfect place to take shelter on a cold autumnal day. The charming 16th century country inn has a warm and inviting bar area and restaurant, complete with low beam ceilings, exposed brick walls and an open fire. The Bell has seven quirky bedrooms and four stunning rustic lodges. This wonderful pub is a truly unique place to stay and is the perfect base from which to explore the gems of the South East – Hastings, Tunbridge Wells and Rye.

The Crown and Thistle is a beautifully restored Grade II listed pub with rooms, situated in the historic market town of Abingdon-on-Thames. Whilst this pub has maintained many of the building’s original features, The Crown and Thistle has the look and feel of a modern gastro pub, with its extensive bar area, elegant function rooms and 18 boutique-style bedrooms. On a cold and dreary day, stay in all day and enjoy a warm soak in the roll-top bath as part of your en-suite.
