Originally a farmhouse and alehouse, the Dog and Partridge Inn has a long history of offering shelter and a warm welcome to those crossing the Pennines. No matter what the weather is like outside, the roaring log fire, traditional oak beams and exposed brick walls are guaranteed to warm the coldest of hands and faces.
As well as hand-pulled ales their bar also serves a wide range of whiskies and gins. The main bar area and small snug is situated in the original part of the inn dating back to the early 17th century, and offers comfortable seating. In warmer months, there is also an extensive outdoor seating area with spectacular views of the surrounding Peak District National Park.
The food on offer at the Dog and Partridge is hearty and generous and their delicious breakfasts cater for every conceivable taste. Their menus are served throughout the bar and in a small dining room, called The Beaters Restaurant. Their daily menu features traditional country cooking, with a weekly special of fish, meat, pasta, desserts, and game when in season. Dishes can also be adapted to cater for all dietary requirements.
The 18th century old barn adjoining the pub has been carefully converted into comfortable en-suite accommodation, with many of the original features retained. There is ample space to sit and relax and each bedroom has wall-mounted televisions with Freeview, WiFi access, beverage making facilities, hairdryers, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries.
The Dog and Partridge is conveniently located and is situated around 30 miles from Manchester and 14 miles from Sheffield. The M1 and M6 road networks are easily accessible in either direction along the Woodhead Pass.
