Sitting on the northern tip of Lake Windermere, the town of Ambleside is surrounded by countryside. With fells, woodland, parks, the quirky little Bridge House and a Roman fort on offer, this part of the Lake District is great for families looking for fun in the great outdoors.
The chefs use fresh local Lakeland produce to create a varied choice of starters, main courses and delicious homemade desserts. And a typical Lakeland inn wouldn’t be complete without a selection of local ales from Cumbria.
The bar offers beers from Hawkshead brewery, Coniston Ales, Ennerdale brewery, Bowness Bay Brewing Company, Cumbrian Legendary Ales and Barngates – to name but a few, and all of which are well tended in the beer cellar. They hold Cask Marque recognition for well kept traditional ales and they also have list of over 40 wines and 50 malt whiskies for those who are not beer drinkers.
This Lake District inn has 10 individually furnished bedrooms of a high standard including the luxury suite. The prettily decorated bedrooms have beautiful views of Wetherlam and the Tilberthwaite Fells. All the rooms offer en-suite accommodation with digital TV, tea and coffee making facilities, and radio alarm clocks. There is WiFi for those who wish to bring their own laptop, but mobile phone reception and broadband are limited in this beautiful, rural location.
