The Watergate were originally a coaching inn, with the original stabling converted into comfortable en-suite bedrooms.
Their bar is friendly, and serves a great selection of real ales, wines and soft drinks. When the sun shines, their outside space is the perfect spot from which to enjoy alfresco drinks. Their food offering is simple, but tasty and cooked on their authentic charcoal grill, so expect dishes such as gourmet hotdogs and burgers and a variety of chicken dishes.
To the rear of this converted coach house you will find their double and twin bedrooms, whilst the rooms in the original building are a combination of single, double and family rooms, the biggest of which sleeps up to five guests.
Each bedroom comes with fresh linen, a TV, WiFi access and tea and coffee making facilities. Dogs are welcome with prior acknowledgement in certain, allocated bedrooms.
York is around halfway between London and Edinburgh, with the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors both on their doorstep.
