Elegantly decorated and yet maintaining its local village pub feel, The Stapylton has an attractive bar with grooved walls, exposed beams and brickwork and a sleek, wooden bar serving an excellent array of hand-pulled ales, wines and spirits.
Food here is taken seriously. White tablecloths adorn the tables in the restaurant where diners can enjoy delights such as twice baked cheddar cheese soufflés, medallions of pork fillet and creamy dauphinoise potatoes. We hear that their scampi tails are some of the best in the business.
The three en-suite guest rooms are supremely comfortable and decorated in a relaxed, country style with game bird wallpaper and tweed soft furnishings. The rooms come with a well-stocked welcome tray including freshly ground coffee as well as WiFi, a TV and a full English breakfast to set you up for the day ahead.
Wass is a small, pretty stone village set in the North York Moors National Park. The area is perennially popular with walkers and cyclists who come from all over the country to explore the moor’s sensational scenery. For the culturally minded, Rivaulx Abbey and Helmsley Castle are both a short drive away and offer a fun day’s excursion.
