Their delicious food is sourced from local ingredients, and includes many pub classics, together with good choices for guests with dietary requirements and those who prefer something a little lighter. There is also a steak and ribs menu and their Sunday lunch is extremely popular.
The friendly bar serves an exceptional range of cask ales and lagers, together with an eclectic choice of wines, spirits and soft drinks. Outside there is a popular beer garden, which is the perfect spot from which to enjoy a pint or a gin & tonic when the sun is shining.
The Staff of Life have eight supremely comfortable en-suite bedrooms, five of which are situated within the pub itself, with a further three located opposite their garden, on the ground floor and with their own entrances.
There are six standard double bedrooms, one of which (room 6) is dog friendly and another (room 4) which can be set up as a twin, together with two superior double rooms.
Each bedroom comes with an en-suite bathroom, fluffy towels, comfortable beds, WiFi access, tea & coffee making facilities and a hairdryer. They also serve a delicious, homecooked full English breakfast which is included in your stay.
This historic, country pub backs onto the open fields of the National Trust’s Calke Abbey. They are also perfectly situated for parents and visitors to the famous Repton and Foremarke schools, and there are a wonderful array of walking routes on their doorstep.
