As a 13th century coaching inn, the restaurant at The Red Lion retains this heritage with a décor that includes exposed wooden beams and a rustic brick fireplace. There’s three private event areas, including a spacious room that absorbs the brightness from the skylight above. In the warmer months, the outdoor lawn includes comfortable deck chairs, perfect for dining and drinking alfresco.
At present, food is served at The Red Lion’s sister property, the Holiday Inn Express Cambridge-Duxford. The two properties share the same car park, so it’s easily accessible as it is quite literally a stone’s throw away. Here guests can enjoy varied menu full of pub classics, and of course, a hearty breakfast in the morning. Consisting of a hot and cold buffet, it’s a rewarding incentive to start the day nice and early.
The Red Lion has 18 individually designed bedrooms, combining contemporary style and traditional nods to the past with twisted wooden beams and antique furnishings. Featuring double beds, flat screen TVs with Freeview, luxury duvets and a bathroom with power shower or bath. There’s also complimentary WiFi and each room comes with tea and coffee making facilities too.
Located 10 minutes drive from Cambridge city centre, the pub is opposite Whittlesford Parkway railway station, where trains reach London Liverpool Street in an hour. For history buffs, the Imperial War Museum at Duxford is just over a mile away, while Linton Zoo, 15 minutes’ drive, is perfect for a family day out.
