For over 500 years, The Lifeboat Inn, a traditional hotel, restaurant and bar, has been providing shelter and welcoming visitors to the stunning North Norfolk coast. It is only when you step inside through the doors of this historic inn that you begin to imagine its heritage and importance to those looking for a shelter from a rough, stormy sea. Today The Lifeboat Inn provides a sanctuary from our increasingly nomadic modern day living and is the perfect harbour from which to explore North Norfolk’s unspoilt seaside and charming market towns and villages.
In summer, enjoy alfresco dining in their outside terrace or sample their extensive collection of ales, lagers, wines and spirits in their sheltered, courtyard beer garden. In winter, choose between the oak-beamed bar, comfortable lounge with a vast open fire, relaxed dining room or a glass roofed conservatory where a 200 year old vine still fruits and flowers. Look carefully and you’ll find a perfectly preserved pitch-penny slot in one of the bar benches, a fun game to play with friends and family at any time of year.
The Lifeboat Inn’s restaurant offers a variety of places and cosy corners with roaring fires, comfy sofas to dine or simply have a drink and unwind. Whether you prefer to dine in the history-soaked bar, spacious, bright conservatory or relaxed dining room, they are as passionate about the quality of their food as they are about its provenance.
From delicious, set-you-up-for-the-day hearty breakfasts, to traditional lunchtime or evening meals like fish and chips, country pates, ploughman’s platters, crisp salads, hearty soups and stews and the best Sunday roasts, rest assured that each and every dish is sourced, prepared and cooked with provenance in mind, from field, sea or river to fork.
Be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the coast and fresh sea-air, with most bedrooms overlooking the sea, salt marshes and the famous Coal Barn and some offering quaint village or countryside views. In keeping with The Lifeboat Inn’s rich history, each hotel room is named after the crew of the Licensed Victualler’s III, the last pulling lifeboat at the Hunstanton lifeboat station. Photos of which can be found ‘below deck’ on the ground floor.
Some of their bedrooms can be used as family rooms at a charge of £25 per extra person per night. Prices are per room, per night based on two people sharing and inclusive of breakfast and VAT. On Saturdays they have a minimum two night stay. They welcome well behaved dogs in a number of their rooms at a charge of £10 per night.
As one of the UK’s favourite holiday destinations, North Norfolk has something for everyone, from walkers, cyclists, wildlife-lovers, artists, photographers, dog owners, families and more.
