The John Barleycorn was originally built in 1660 as a coaching house. During the Second World War it became a favourite watering hole for the brave young airmen of Douglas Bader’s Duxford Wing. Nowadays, this pub enjoys an excellent reputation for serving some of the very best in genuine home prepared and cooked meals in the area, with produce sourced locally wherever possible.
They are proud of their selection of real ales and are on a mission to make sure that you always get a great pint. Alongside the modern ales made by young brewing companies, they keep classic beers from all over Great Britain.
Their bedrooms have recently been refurnished to a high standard and come with a whole host of little luxuries to help you enjoy your stay.
This pub is ideally situated to discover East Anglia – punting on the cam, racing at Newmarket, concerts at Audley End House or a Winters walk to Granchester. They are also situated just 25minutes from Stansted Airport.
