The Spars in the Driftwood relate to the huge beams or spars that keep the Driftwood standing. They were salvaged from shipwrecks along the coast and were utilised to build the Driftwood in the 1650s. The building itself offers a wealth of history having been converted from a tin mining warehouse, chandlery, sail making loft and fish cellar over the years to a hotel with bar in the early 1900’s and a public bar in the 1940’s.
They offer quality homemade pub food in a warm friendly atmosphere and have three bars with woodburning stoves and an additional dining room that has spectacular sea views. Wherever possible they source their food locally and their fish is usually landed daily at Newlyn harbour or just 200 yards away in the cove!
The Crib Shack is their quirky outpost for ‘Crib’ (a useful Cornish term for snacks at any time of day!) across the road in the beer garden. Originally a shipping container, they have given it a new lease of life by creating a funky bar and casual eating spot.
Their 15 en-suite bedrooms all come with a whole host of little luxuries including crisp, fresh linen, fluffy towels and tea and coffee making facilities. In the morning look forward to a cooked breakfast or a cold buffet offering an array of fresh fruit, cereal, granola, yoghurts and pastries. As a dog friendly pub, they welcome your canine friend to join you for your stay at a small additional cost per dog, per night.
Whatever the occasion The Driftwood Spars can cater for your needs. They offer a wide range of services to cater for weddings, buffets, conference and birthday parties..
