The Cricketers is steeped in history, fine food and exceptional hospitality. Their bar, dining areas and bedrooms have all been sympathetically updated, and outside there is a delightful terrace and garden, the perfect spot from which to enjoy your favourite drink in the sunshine.
They serve a modern British menu, with dishes changing with the seasons and using the very best local produce. Vegan and gluten free dishes sit alongside hearty Sunday roasts, all contributing to the great diversity and seasonality of East Anglia, their bread is freshly baked every morning, and their pasta is homemade too.
Their bar serves a considered drinks list, which includes an eclectic wine list, various cask ales, artisan gins and single malt whiskies.
Their 22 en-suite bedrooms comprise of three room types called Good, Better and Best. Each bedroom has floral and botanical inspired fabrics, papers and paints bringing the Essex countryside inside.
Their Good rooms are situated in the pub itself, and the ground level, Better rooms are located in the courtyard next to the pub. Their Best rooms are situated in The Willows, just over the road and have been designed to accommodate visitors who are less mobile, they have large modern wet rooms and parking close by.
Dog friendly bedrooms can be booked for a nominal additional surcharge and prior acknowledgement.
Clavering sits on the river Stort and is surrounded by fields, thatched cottages and wonky timber framed houses. Audley End House and Gardens and the Duxford Imperial War Museum are both nearby.
