Visit Newport and the Valleys

Scroll

Newport is surrounded by beautiful landscapes including the Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the undulating Vale of Usk, famous for its salmon fishing, the Brecon Beacons National Park and Forest of Dean, both less than an hour’s drive from Newport. You will never be stuck for places to explore when you visit Newport and the Valleys.

In addition to this, The Valleys are jam-packed with wide open spaces to explore perfectly for walkers or bikers. For an insight into the history of The Valleys head to Big Pit, a real coal mine in the World heritage listed Blaenavon. As well as this you’ll be mesmerised in Caerphilly where you can wander around the largest castle in Wales dating back to 1268. With all these activities in Newport and The Valleys, the only other thing to worry about is where to stay.

With many pubs offering award-winning accommodation and a friendly service, they are a great base for exploring the local surroundings and finding out about hidden gems in the area.

So if you’re looking for a holiday where you can mix city life with a rural countryside escape, a visit to Newport and the Valleys is perfect. For more on what there is to explore in the region, check out our Visit South Wales page.
