Harbourmaster is a buzzy bar and harbour facing restaurant serving the best of local shellfish, fish and produce. Craft beers, real ales from Wales’ best new breweries and an extensive selection of wines by the glass. Sit, sip and watch the sunset and boats bobbing from the panoramic windows. The restaurant focuses on local produce – Cardigan Bay crab, lobster, locally landed seabream, hake, seabass, pollock; Welsh beef and lamb as well as Blaencamel farm organic vegetables.
Breakfast at the Harbourmaster has become an institution – avocados and poached egg; locally cured bacon in a great bun; Harbourmaster beans with chorizo, egg and sourdough; organic porridge with figs; pancakes with maple syrup.
The rooms are peppered with personality: exposed stone, eye-catching fabrics, and sash windows. Best of all, the views of crashing waves are on repeat as the vast majority are either sea or harbour facing. Besides the prevailing tones of aqua, turquoise and duck-egg blue, there are pops of bright colour in cushions, throws and shaggy rugs.
Standard doubles are named after ships built in the harbour, and come with tea and coffee, gowns and slippers, DVD players and slick bathrooms with Molton Brown toiletries. Upgrade to a warehouse room for extra comforts like a terrace or roll top bath. The attic Madona Suite, reached via the listed spiral staircase and with big views across the bay, is honeymoon material.
