Bought in 1990 by John Illsley, bass guitarist of Dire Straits, in order to preserve it for the local community. The East End Arms has managed to retain its loyal local following while also drawing in visitors from outside the area, attracted by the authentically good food and relaxed atmosphere.
They endeavour to source food locally and follow the seasons where possible. Their delicious menu has something for meat eaters, fish lovers or those who prefer vegetarian dishes. Excluding Sunday night you’ll find them serving lunch and dinner on a daily basis.
Their house ales are from the Ringwood Brewery and they are proud to offer a range of other guest ales which vary from week to week. Their wine list has been carefully put together by Helen McGinn, author of “The Knackered Mother’s Wine Guide” and frequent guest of Alan Titchmarsh’s BBC1 daytime programme.
Upstairs are five roomy, comfortable double bedrooms, each individually designed, featuring Oka furnishings and Mulberry fabrics. All five rooms at East End Arms are doubles, but can be made into twins upon request. Each bedroom comes with an en-suite bathroom, free WiFi, Nespresso coffee machine, flat screen TV and tea making facilities. A hearty New Forest breakfast is included in your stay.
