The Lion has been a central part of Malpas life for over three centuries, and was brought back to life and re-opened after a fabulous restoration in late 2020.
Their restaurant serves beautifully crafted pub classics and refined dishes, created from the finest, seasonal local ingredients. They cater well for guests with dietary requirements, and they also serve a delicious breakfast.
The warm, inviting and friendly bar serves award winning cask ales, (many of which are sourced from local breweries), craft lagers, ciders, a short and considered wine list, an artisan gin shelf and a fine selection of malt whiskies. Outside there is a pretty courtyard garden, which is the perfect spot from which to enjoy al fresco drinks in the sunshine.
The Lion has 16 beautiful decorated bedrooms which comprise of their double and twin “Village” rooms, their slightly larger “Country” rooms and their duplex suite, “The Bakery”.
Their bedrooms are accessed via the cottage terrace, and come with an en-suite bathroom, super comfortable beds, the finest bed linen, fluffy towels, a TV, tea & coffee making facilities and WiFi access.
There are a limited number of bedrooms and facilities at ground floor level with easy access. Dogs are welcome with prior acknowledgement with the pub in a select number of bedrooms.
Malpas is steeped in medieval history, and is the perfect base from which to explore Cheshire, Shropshire and North Wales.
