A mecca for foodies and real ale buffs alike, the Dabbling Duck hosts busy drinking evenings in its rustic bar decorated with traditional hop swatches. Its real ales get the nod from CAMRA, while gin lovers are also very well catered for.
The large attractive gardens and children’s play area make this inn a great destination for families – and their dogs! In fact, your four-legged friend can stay over in selected rooms – just make sure to check when making your booking.
The food is all geared towards keeping it local, so you can expect seasonal produce where possible. If it’s game you’re after, then you’ll be spoilt for choice as pheasant, partridge and venison often make it on the menu. Not only this, the Dabbling Duck is just as happy to cater towards plant-based palates, so vegans and vegetarians are well looked after.
All nine en-suite rooms at the Dabbling Duck are tastefully decorated with lots of creature comforts, such as feather pillows and crisp white linen. As you’d expect from an old building, some of the rooms have steep staircases, so make sure to check the specification when making your booking.
Great Massingham is a very attractive village with a huge village green, several large ponds (where you can find the dabbling ducks) and a striking church. Further afield is Norwich (40 miles) and Kings Lynn (3 miles).
