The Bellachroy sits in the pretty village of Dervaig on the Isle of Mull and has been welcoming travellers for centuries. Behind its traditional whitewashed exterior are six comfortable en-suite bedrooms, a lively locals’ bar and a restaurant where Scottish produce and freshly caught seafood put the island firmly on the plate. Its position in north-west Mull is one of the biggest reasons to stay. The inn overlooks Dervaig and Loch Cuin, with the colourful harbour town of Tobermory around eight miles away in one direction and the white sands and turquoise water of Calgary Bay around six miles away in the other. Walks and cycle rides can begin from the village, while Mull’s eagles, otters, deer and extraordinary marine life provide plenty of reasons to keep binoculars close at hand.

Some look towards Dervaig village, Kilmore Church and Loch Cuin, giving guests an immediate sense of Mull’s landscape. Guests also have access to a residents’ lounge, furnished with sofas and easy chairs alongside books, maps, guides and board games. In the morning, wake up to a cooked breakfast. Dogs are welcome on request, with prior acknowledgement – additional charges apply.
Food & Drink
Eating and drinking at The Bellachroy feels very much part of being on Mull. The restaurant serves homemade Scottish dishes using local produce wherever possible, supplemented by a daily specials board. Locally caught seafood features, alongside homemade desserts and award-winning local cheeses. The pub itself is one of The Bellachroy’s real pleasures. It remains a locals’ bar and community hub, rather than feeling like a hotel lounge dressed up as a pub. Real ale comes from Scottish brewer Ardgour Ales, and occasional events add to the atmosphere. The bar carries a good range of malt whisky and there is an interesting wine list to accompany the restaurant menu.
