As well as glorious food, there is lots to see and do whilst visiting Castle Douglas.  Catch a boat across the River Dee and visit Threave Castle, an ancient 14th century attraction, which stands proudly on the island.  Alternatively, visit the beautiful Threave Garden and Estate, the home of the School of Heritage Gardening and all round haven for wildlife.  Stroll around the gardens and enjoy the picturesque views over the Galloway Hills and the Ken/Dee valley.
