Barnard Castle

Scroll

Situated on a high rock avove the River Tees and with views over the Tees Gorge, Barnard Castle was built in the 12th century. It was named after its founder, Bernard de Balliol, but was later developed by the Beauchamp family.

Due to its picturesque surroundings and its close proximity to the market town also known as ‘Barney’, there is plenty to do for families on a day out.
