Y Castell is an 18th-century Georgian coaching inn set in the village of Llangadog. Following an extensive restoration, this family-run inn combines the character of its past with six individually designed bedrooms, an inviting bar, accomplished restaurant and the sort of warm, relaxed atmosphere that suits a country escape rather well. Bedrooms are comfortable without feeling overly formal, while downstairs you can settle beside the wood-burning stove, enjoy locally sourced food or explore a drinks list with a distinctly Welsh accent. Food is a particular highlight, with menus built around seasonal ingredients from the Tywi Valley and surrounding countryside. The setting opens the door to some of Carmarthenshire’s finest countryside. Bannau Brycheiniog National Park lies close by, with the Black Mountain, Llyn y Fan Fach and Fan Brycheiniog providing superb walking country.

Food & Drink
The restaurant at Y Castell holds 2 AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence. Expect accomplished cooking with the reassuringly relaxed atmosphere of a village inn. The seasonal menus feature comforting favourites and more contemporary plates, with locally sourced ingredients from the Tywi Valley and surrounding Welsh countryside taking centre stage. The drinks selection has a strong sense of place too. The bar champions Welsh spirits, locally produced beers and ciders, supported by a carefully selected wine list and cocktails. Even the soft drinks have local connections. With its wood-burning stove and eclectic interiors, the bar is somewhere to spend time rather than simply somewhere to order before supper.
