Located on a cobbled street and surrounded by a myriad of independent shops and restaurants, the 450-year-old White Horse & Griffin has a well-deserved reputation for fabulous food in a characterful and inviting environment. There are two main areas; the bustling bistro downstairs and an upstairs restaurant which lends itself perfectly to private events, be they business meetings, weddings or birthdays.
Food is served in an unfussy style using locally sourced ingredients with fresh seafood as star of the show. Gluten-free and vegetarian diets are well catered for and the friendly and efficient team will look after you from start to finish as well as advising good wine matches for your food choice.
The 10 guest rooms are individually decorated with contemporary fixtures and furniture mixing effortlessly with the traditional bones of the building. All rooms are en-suite and some are dog friendly, please check when making your booking and be aware that there may be a small, additional charge. Breakfast is included in the price and is served with the same care and attention as your dinner the night before.
Known for being one of Whitby’s oldest and most iconic properties, the White Horse & Griffin places you in a central location, perfect for exploring everything the seaside town has to offer. The area is also popular with cyclists taking on the challenge of the Coast to Coast trail, and with energetic walkers on the Cleveland Way.
