Situated on the B6318 Roman Military Road, midway between Newcastle and Carlisle, the pub is perfectly located for exploring nearby Roman sites, Milecastle and The Roman Army Museum, and the Sill Landscape Discovery Centre.
The iconic Pennine Way meanders past the pub, and Hadrian’s Cycleway (Route 72) passes close by.
