Escape to a hidden gem in the Washburn Valley

The Timble Inn sits in the tiny village of Timble, surrounded by the beautiful Washburn Valley. This Grade II listed 18th-century coaching inn has been carefully restored into an intimate country pub with nine luxurious bedrooms and an award-winning restaurant. Family-owned and independent, there is a polished feel to the experience without losing the warmth you want from a country inn. The setting is equally special. Swinsty and Fewston Reservoirs are close by, with walking routes leading out into the surrounding countryside, while the Yorkshire Dales are just a short drive away. Harrogate is around nine miles from the inn, putting its shops, gardens and famous spa-town attractions within easy reach without disturbing Timble’s wonderfully peaceful atmosphere.

Bedrooms

The bedrooms at the Timble Inn are every bit as inviting as the countryside outside. With just nine individually styled en-suite rooms, there is an intimate, boutique feel to staying here, with each bedroom combining the character of an old Yorkshire coaching inn with thoughtful contemporary comforts. The accommodation holds an AA 5-Star Gold rating, making this much more than simply a comfortable place to sleep after supper. Choose from a collection of double, double/twin, and superior bedrooms. For a stay with a little extra romance, the Suite is the standout with a four-poster bed taking centre stage. Dogs are welcome on request, with prior acknowledgement in two rooms – additional charges apply. After a peaceful night in Timble, breakfast downstairs provides a fitting start to the day.

Food & Drink

Food is a real highlight of any stay at the Timble Inn. Its 2 AA Rosette restaurant brings together accomplished cooking and some of Yorkshire’s finest produce, served in the relaxed surroundings of a country inn. At lunchtime, the menu takes a more traditional direction, with Timble classics taking centre stage. Sunday lunch is another good excuse to visit, with a dedicated Sunday menu bringing together seasonal starters, traditional roasts and indulgent puddings. The bar keeps things suitably Yorkshire. Changing cask ales regularly feature breweries such as Black Sheep, Ilkley Brewery and Timothy Taylor, complemented by a carefully chosen selection of wines. After a walk around Fewston or Swinsty Reservoir, there are few better ways to round off the afternoon than finding a comfortable spot, ordering a pint and settling in before supper.
