If you’re visiting the Dales, or indeed are local to the area, then the Punch Bowl is an excellent and highly recommended spot for a drink, meal or a night. The welcoming and informal bar is a comfortable and cosy place to enjoy a glass of locally brewed real ale and the friendly team will look after you from the moment you walk in the door.
The food at the Punch Bowl has a reputation that has spread throughout North Yorkshire. You can expect locally sourced Yorkshire ingredients beautifully presented with a modern twist. Food is available throughout the day, so if you’re passing through on a walk, then you can enjoy a meal whatever the time.
The Punch Bowl has 11 en-suite bedrooms, all of which blend traditional character with contemporary fixtures. Individually designed, they are all comfortable, spacious and stylish and have breath-taking views of Swaledale. A hearty full English breakfast, alongside plenty of fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals, is included in the price.
Swaledale is known for its stunning scenery and is extremely popular with walkers of all levels. Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk goes right past the door of the pub and the 268-mile Pennine Way is close by offering plenty of options for the more seasoned walker. There are numerous cycling routes on the doorstep but, for those who prefer a more sedate life, then the market town of Richmond is a few miles away as is Barnard Castle. Swadale also hosts the Swadale Festival which takes place every May and June.
