The Ormond has long been a popular meeting place in town, with its warm and cosy atmosphere, open fires, newspapers, magazines and sofas, it’s a great spot to while away an evening whether you are on your own or in a group of friends.
They generally offer 3 real ales, including a guest ale, premium draught beers, draught ciders and a great variety of bottled and continental beers and ciders. They also have a wide selection of wines by the glass, warming mulled wine in winter and an excellent choice of digestifs and local fruit liqueurs.
As you would expect from a building that dates from the 17th century, their bedrooms come in a variety of shapes and sizes and they are priced accordingly. Each room has a distinctive character but all are equipped with a whole host of little luxuries including crisp fresh linen, fluffy towels, power showers (their signature rooms and some family rooms also have a bath), complimentary toiletries, flat screen TVs with freeview, free WiFi, tea, coffee and cookies, a telephone and room service during restaurant hours. Some of their bedrooms are dog-friendly with an additional nominal charge per dog stay.
Their courtyard garden gets more cultivated every year as their planting increases and this delightful space is open throughout the day and early evenings.The top part of the garden can also be booked for private parties in the summer.
