The Mermaid has oodles of traditional features, sloping ceilings, creaking floorboards and a secret stairway hidden behind a bookcase.
Their award winning restaurant serves delicious dishes which have influences from both Britain and France.
The lounge bar which was once frequented by local smugglers, is warm and cosy and has a large wooden beam supported by stone pillars, and a second smaller lounge overlooks the cobbles of Mermaid Street. Outside there is a delightful patio garden.
They have 31 en-suite bedrooms, each with their own personality, charm and period features such as wood panelling and carved beds. There are a choice of small double rooms, doubles, twins, deluxe and superior rooms. Each bedroom comes with comfortable beds, fresh towels and linen, a TV, tea & coffee making facilities and WiFi access.
Dogs are welcome on request, with prior acknowledgement directly with the pub.
They are the only hotel in Rye with on-site parking, however this is limited, and they have four accessible electric charging points.
