The bar is bustling and welcoming with plenty going on. The big screens show the action from the Premier League and the Six Nations and the bar offers a great selection of local and craft ales, ciders wine and spirits. If you’re a gin lover, then you’re in for a treat – they have a selection of over 40! In the summer months, the terrace is an excellent spot to watch the world go by on.
The menu has plenty of pub favourites to tempt including lasagne, fish and chips, steaks and curries. The food is unfussy but well presented and served with plenty of Yorkshire charm.
The Dolphin has 6 contemporary and comfortable rooms, all of which have excellent views over the harbour. Being right in the centre of town, taking a room at the Dolphin is a great bet for getting around Whitby and soaking up the atmosphere. The rooms are spacious, and all come with seating areas, perfect for resting weary limbs at the end of the day, and a hearty full English breakfast is included in the price.
There’s masses to do on the doorstep of the Dolphin. The Captain Cook museum is next door and Whitby Abbey and Lighthouse are a few hundred metres away. A short walk from the bridge takes you to the beach and its local amenities including a surf school, outdoor pool and mini golf course.
