Built in the 17th century, The Black Horse is an award-winning, traditional inn set in the small hamlet of Ireland, Bedfordshire. This family owned and run pub/restaurant has built up an excellent reputation for providing outstanding fresh food, cooked by talented chefs, served by friendly and attentive staff in relaxed and comfortable surroundings.
The exterior of the building retains its original charm, enhanced with stunning flower baskets and window boxes overflowing with colour, flagstone frontage and manicured greenery, whilst the interior has been beautifully up dated in a contemporary style using natural materials, including wooden and stone floors and a slate top bar. With the low ceiling bar, original beams and inglenook fireplaces it still retains its character.
The bar is comfortable and cosy, the perfect place to relax with friends or loved ones when enjoying a glass of wine from the extensive wine list, a pint from the selection of real ales on draught or even a warming cup of tea or coffee. The restaurant consists of two distinct dining rooms, each offering their own unique style and atmosphere with either a garden or courtyard outlook. In the summer months the garden and courtyard areas are opened up to offer alfresco dining.
The Black Horse prides itself on serving delicious home-cooked food based on traditional British recipes with a continental/Mediterranean twist. The highly qualified chefs are passionate about using the finest, freshest ingredients and support local farms and estates by sourcing ingredients locally where possible.
The Black Horse has two quality chalet rooms pleasantly situated within the courtyard garden, with their own private entrance. Each room is tastefully decorated and beautifully furnished with a comfortable king-sized divan bed dressed in quality Egyptian cotton bed linen, a stylish armchair to relax in, plenty of storage for clothes and an en-suite bathroom with a large rain dance shower, double wash-basin, back-lit vanity mirror and heated towel rail for those colder months.
They are highly equipped with HD LED Television, trouser press, fridge, hairdryer, alarm clock with DAB radio and iPod docking station and a personal espresso coffee machine and tea from Teapigs. The price includes a continental breakfast served in your room and a complimentary bottle of still/sparkling water. There is also free WiFi available.
