The Bear serve modern British dishes created from the very best local and seasonal produce. For absolute freshness and traceability, they grow fruit and vegetables in their 200 year old walled garden of Hodnet Hall.
At this fabulous pub you can expect ales from Shropshire brewers on tap, and butcher’s cuts from their very own cattle. Provenance is an important part of their ethos, and their menu changes regularly to coincide with the very best seasonal ingredients available to them.
The bar and restaurant are both on the ground floor and offer wheelchair access throughout.
The Bear has 12 beautifully decorated bedrooms, seven of which are above the inn and a further five located in the coach house. Each of their elegant bedrooms comes with heavyweight curtains, original artwork, luxurious woollen blankets, crisp white cotton sheets, smart thermostats, a TV, tea facilities, Nespresso machines, luxurious toiletries and WiFi access.
There is one accessible bedroom in the coach house and dogs are welcome on request, with prior acknowledgement directly with the pub in two of their rooms.
The Bear occupies a prominent position in the village, opposite the Norman church of St Luke’s, and the magnificent Hodnet Hall Gardens.
