Stay Safe We’re Good to Go!

Stay in a Pub has partnered with Visit England to issue an industry standard and ‘Stay Safe’ mark to boost consumer confidence.

The ‘We’re Good To Go’ industry standard and supporting ‘Stay Safe’ mark enables our pubs with rooms to demonstrate that they are adhering to the respective Government and public health guidance, have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and checked that they have the required processes in place. The scheme has been developed with input from more than 40 industry bodies including UK Hospitality, the British Beer and Pub Association and Stay in a Pub.

Tourism Minister Nigel Huddleston said:
“I want to encourage the public to experience a great British holiday this summer and be confident that they can do so safely.

“This new industry standard will show people that tourism businesses, destinations and attractions are adhering to the guidance. It puts safety first and is an important move in getting this industry back up and running.”

Founding Director of Stay in Pub, Paul Nunny said:
“In our recent survey of 12,000 customers, 41% said they were ‘completely comfortable’ about staying overnight in a pub and 80% ‘pretty comfortable’, however our ‘Stay Safe’ mark and this industry standard certification will go that step further towards providing reassurance and boosting consumer confidence.

“Over the past fortnight, we have seen a 48% increase in traffic to our website and since the Government announcements this week, the number of people searching for pubs with rooms has returned to 2019 levels indicating a rise in demand for staycations based in a great British pub”.

To obtain the mark, pubs must complete a self-assessment through the online platform Were Good To Go including a check-list confirming they have put the necessary processes in place, before receiving the Stay Safe mark and the We’re Good To Go certification for display in their premises and online. The scheme is free for all pubs with rooms listed on

Pubs must align with the UK Government’s official guidance for the sector including ‘Working Safely during COVID-19: Visitor Economy’ and an ‘alert’ system ensures that those signed up to the standard are notified of any changes to the official guidance. A call-handling service provides support and assessors will also carry-out random spot-checks to ensure adherence.

Pubs who want to apply for this scheme should go to Were Good to Go and select Stay in a Pub as their membership association for accreditation.
