Stay in a Cosy Country Pub and Discover Hidden Chatsworth

Stay in a Pub on the Chatsworth Estate and discover the fascinating history of Chatsworth House, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and one of the country´s most loved stately homes. For this month only you can take an exclusive close up look at the work behind the scenes when the doors are closed for restoration, conservation and deep-cleaning.

The Hidden Chatsworth tour is an opportunity to view some of the most impressive rooms and interiors, including the Painted Hall, the State Apartments and the Sketch Galleries and discover how the conservation and restoration of the House and the Devonshire Collections are fundamental objectives of the Chatsworth House Trust.

The 105-acre garden is the product of nearly 500 years of careful cultivation. Although some points of interest have been replaced to make way for new fashions, the garden retains many early features, including the Canal Pond, Cascade and 1st Duke’s Greenhouse.

In 2021 the Estate celebrated the continued reinvigoration of the grounds with the monumental sculpture, Natural Course created by Laura Ellen Bacon, as the centrepiece of Arcadia. This forms part of the biggest transformation of the garden for 200 years and includes a remodelled Rock Garden, the Maze borders, the Ravine, and Dan Pearson’s redevelopment of the Trout Stream and the Jack Pond.

Stay in a Pub features two properties on the Chatsworth Estate: The Devonshire Arms at Pilsley and The Devonshire Arms at Beeley. Both are known for their excellent food using quality local ingredients much of which is produced on the Chatsworth Estate itself. The supremely comfortable bedrooms are each furnished in their own style and equipped with lots of little extras to make your stay in a pub on the Chatsworth Estate a truly memorable one. Well behaved dogs are also welcome in allocated rooms.

The behind-the-scenes tour is only available to guests staying in one of the Estate properties up until 3 March and prices start at £195.00 per person for a two-night break including dinner on the first night, breakfast each morning and the closed-season tour of Chatsworth House available Monday to Thursday.
