Highland inn beside the Sound of Arisaig

Glenuig Community Inn sits beside Glenuig Bay on the Sound of Arisaig. The inn has been part of Glenuig life since the 18th century and is now proudly owned by the community. Few pub stays put you quite so close to the wild beauty of Scotland’s west coast. The setting is difficult to upstage. Coastal walks lead towards Smirisary and White Sands, while kayaking, wild swimming, cycling and hillwalking are all possible nearby. Mallaig and Arisaig open up trips to the Small Isles, and the Road to the Isles leads east towards Glenfinnan and Fort William. With very little light pollution, winter evenings can bring star-filled skies and even the possibility of the Northern Lights.

The rooms are bright, practical and unfussy with flexible sleeping arrangements. A particularly useful feature is that every room has its own external entrance and porch – guests can come and go independently, with somewhere immediately outside the bedroom to deal with walking boots and outdoor kit after a day in the Highlands. In the morning, wake up to a cooked Scottish breakfast. Dogs are welcome on request, with prior acknowledgement.

Food & Drink

Food at Glenuig Community Inn is inspired by the west coast and Highlands. Menus change regularly and feature a mix of comforting classics, local seafood and Highland meats. At the bar, guests can choose from beers, wines, local gins and Scottish single malt whiskies. In warmer weather, the beer garden is a lovely spot for a drink. Community events add to the atmosphere, keeping the bar firmly at the heart of village life.
