Fleur de Lys is a destination, where people with a like-minded appreciation for French flair can come together over food, drink, and good times.
The bistro serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day, and their menus feature seasonally inspired French classics, and a smattering of British favourites. The food is straightforward, so think hearty Bourguignon or roast dinners in the colder months and a slurp worthy, Moules Marinière in the summer.
Their beer is British and comes from Hawkstone, who produce the very finest beer and cider, crafted to perfection in the rolling Cotswold Hills. There is a carefully curated list of French wines, and the bar is well-stocked with Welsh cask, artisan spirits, aperitifs, and soft drinks.
Outside, their terrace and gardens are the picture-perfect place from which to enjoy sociable drinking in the sunshine or idle the afternoon away with a game of Pétanque.
Fleur de Lys has nine bespoke boudoirs, each of which comes with outrageously comfy Hypnos mattresses, vintage, reclaimed furniture, bold wallpaper, and luxurious French body and bath toiletries.
There are a variety of styles for every taste and budget from a small single room, perfect for a solo traveller, to a deluxe double with a freestanding bathtub. One room named Bonaparte is dog friendly, and a two-bedroom suite named Artiste is suitable for families.
Breakfast is a real treat and includes delicious choices such as a full English, freshly baked croissants, toasted muffins, smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, waffles, or granola with yoghurt.
There is plentiful street parking in the village with no restrictions.
Bampton is a haven for those who have a love for a rural, relaxed way of living, and home to Downton Village, where the village scenes for Downton Abbey were filmed.
The bistro supports the local community fund by selling walking maps and arranging walking tours.
