The Cromwell Arms is an award winning country inn just a 5 minute drive off the A38, being ideally located on the edge of Dartmoor in the town of Bovey Tracey, also known as the Gateway to the Moor, offering easy acess to endless Datmoor countryside. The Cromwell Arms is a fantastic place from which to explore the whole county, from the moors, tors and villages, to the beaches and the rest of the South West.
With Exeter, Plymouth and Newton Abbot easily accessible from them, together with being only 10 miles away from the sea, the location is an ideal stop over for a business trip, a weekend break or for long staying guests holidaying in Devon.
The Cromwell Arms was once a Coaching house and dates back to the 17th Century with stone wall, Inglenook fireplaces and beamed ceilings. The Inn itself has been recently refurbished throughout and traditionally decorated, blending comfort with character.
Each of the 14 en-suite hotel bedrooms have been tastefully modernized and are all en-suite, have flat screen TV, internet connectivity and heated bathroom towel rail. They now have a ground floor bedroom that would be ideal for older people or someone who is restricted with stairs. They have a family room that can sleep up to 6 people (which is also great for cyclists, ramblers etc. who like to share), a Triple room which is idea for a small family or contractors and a Superior room with a four poster bed for something different. Most of the rooms are named from the districts and towns around the local area. Parking is available at the back of the building.
They have an extensive menu accompanied by daily changing specials. Where possible the ingredients are reared or caught locally. All dishes are carefully prepared by the team of accomplished chefs and they can cater for people with special dietary requirements with notice. They are a great place for a morning coffee to a candle-lit dinner. You can sit back, relax and enjoy freshly prepared dishes, speciality coffees, fine wine and award-winning ales with a friendly atmosphere. They always have 5 cask beers to choose from which go down a treat with locals and visitors alike.
For special occasion or a family gathering, the Cromwell Restaurant is just perfect. They can cater for up to 40 people and it’s also a great venue for corporate events and meetings which they have on a regualr basis. In the summer months, they have a beautiful beer garden to sit and take in the views over Dartmoor. They can even cater for a barbeque if you so wished.
Dogs are welcome too. Please telephone if you are bringing your dog to stay overnight with them as they like to put them in rooms nearer the garden for your convience. There is a £5 charge per night.
Please note there is a 2 night minimum stay at weekends during March – October. An extra bed can be added to some rooms at a charge of £10 per night.
