Visit Oxfordshire

Many tourists from far and wide visit Oxfordshire as the county is quintessentially English, with its olde-worlde architecture, palace estates, deer parks and meadows. Set in South East England, it’s best known for its prestigious university, established in the 12th century. There are 38 colleges in Oxford’s medieval city centre.

Oxfordshire was recorded as a county in the early years of the 10th century and is situated between the River Thames to the south, the Cotswolds to the west, the Chilterns to the east and the Midlands to the north. Due to its location, Oxfordshire includes parts of three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (Cotswolds, North Wessex Downs and Chiltern Hills), meaning there is plenty to see and explore in the county. Perfect for ramblers and cyclists!

Top things to do in Oxfordshire include a punt on the River in Oxford to get a view of the various colleges dotted around the city, a visit to Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site or a trip to Cotswolds Wildlife Park.
