This historic building dates back several hundred years and has become entwined with local history.
Their characterful restaurant offers diners a setting which has walls engraved with visible brickwork, exposed beams and an inglenook fireplace. Their menu changes with the seasons and is accompanied by an extensive wine list and their delicious afternoon tea is also very popular.
The Star and Eagle has ten supremely comfortable bedrooms, most of which have delightful views overlooking the surrounding countryside or the neighbouring parish church. All rooms offer tea and coffee making facilities, including homemade shortbread biscuits.
Eight of their bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom, the two family rooms share a shower room and there is also a room with a splendidly renovated four poster bed. In the morning, wake up to a traditional full English or Continental breakfast.
The Star and Eagle is featured on a Smugglers Trail that shares the same area as the operations of the 18th century Hawkhurst Gang. It’s also been rumoured that The Star and Eagle was once a monastery.
