Situated in the picturesque setting of Neenton among the Shropshire Hills, The Pheasant is the pride of the village, being lovingly restored and brought back to life by the local community. With its magnificent Oak Room, characterful interiors and orchard garden, it is an idyllic spot to enjoy delicious food or a relaxing stay.
There’s also a remarkable story behind the Pheasant: closed for nine years it was semi-derelict until bought, restored, extended and re-opened in 2014 by the local community. The owners are rightly very proud of the Pheasant, with guests enjoying eating, drinking and staying with them all the more for knowing they are in a place treasured by the local people who now collectively own it.
With their superb seasonal food and carefully selected wines and real ales, the pub has a lunchtime and evening service, with menus tuned to the season, taking full advantage of the fine local ingredients available around South Shropshire.
They have three spacious bedrooms, beautifully furnished, each with a super king size bed to relax in. The Pheasant at Neenton makes a perfect base for a break in the heart of south Shropshire’s glorious, yet quiet and undiscovered countryside, the blue remembered hills of Housman’s poetry
The pub is six miles from Bridgnorth, 12 from Ludlow and 15 from Ironbridge. They are also local for the museums of the Ironbridge Gorge, the historical heart of the Industrial Revolution; the Severn Valley Railway and the many National Trust and English Heritage properties in the area.
