The Lantern Pike Inn is a family owned Pub, Restaurant and B&B situated in Little Hayfield, on the A624 between Glossop and Chapel-en-le-Frith, and has been an Inn since 1851. The pub itself dates from the building of the turnpike from Old Glossop to Buxton in 1792.
Steeped in history and rich in character the pub is within the bounds of the Peak District National Park, and whilst having all modern amenities retains its old world charm and provides the perfect base for you to discover The Peak District, Hayfield and surrounding attractions.
Today, the resident owners Stella and Tom Cunliffe extend a warm and friendly welcome to all who frequent their country hostelry, with a roaring fire, good food complemented with a well-balanced wine menu, well-kept real ales and comfortable bedrooms. They are also very proud to be Little Hayfield’s/Hayfield’s only main entry in the Good Pub Guide for the years 2009 – 2014 as well as a main entry in the AA Pub Guide.
Similarly, the beer garden has been voted in the top 15 British Beer Gardens by MSN Travel UK. Of mid-18th Century architectural design, no two rooms are the same and vary in size and character… Nevertheless, all visitors staying at the Lantern Pike Inn will be delighted at the standard of accommodation. They have 5 cosy double/twin rooms available, with breakfast included with your room. All bedrooms are en-suite, and have a hairdryer, flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities. For your additional comfort, one of the double rooms is a superior room, it has a dressed four poster bed and additional seating.
The bar has a warm and intimate atmosphere and serves tasty homemade pub food and real ale is always available on tap. However, if it’s just a nice cuppa you want they also served traditional English tea, this in addition to some not so traditional teas from around the world. They can also offer you a cup of freshly ground Kenco Fairtrade coffee.
At The Lantern Pike Inn, they are extremely proud of the food menu. They use only the finest ingredients reflecting seasonal market and availability, expertly prepared. It is for this reason that they do not have a printed menu but a constantly changing chalkboard. They cater for all types of cooking e.g. gluten free, vegetarian etc.
The Lantern Pike is an ideal centre for Peak Park activities, such as country walks, (Kinder Scout Reserve recently declared a National Nature Reserve), mountain biking etc. They are in easy reach of Chatsworth House, The Chestnut Centre, Lyme Park, the village of Eyam (plague village), Alton Towers (approx. 90 minutes) and many more interesting places.
